Due to peer pressure, adult
expectations, over-stimulation, and distractions, childhood can be stressful
for little ones. While schools are forced to tread lightly when it comes to the
students, parents can find a low-cost and effective way to help their children
de-stress at home. One great way of providing quiet play that is beneficial to
children is introducing them to yoga games. Here are some benefits of teaching
children yoga games.
Mind and Body Awareness
Just as in adults, children can
learn how to calm themselves through mind and body awareness. Children can
learn to manage their breathing and practice breathing exercising to get them
through stressful times in their life. Once a child learns to breathe
correctly, he or she can then learn to self-soothe through the breathing
process and become more independent.
Build Concentration
As children are learning about
their breath, it will also teach them to learn concentration. Not only will
children be taught to concentrate on their breath, but they will also be taught
to concentrate throughout poses and stretches in order to hold them while
maintaining their balance. While playing yoga games, children will also have
the chance to unplug from their electronic devices, which will teach them to be
present in the moment and concentrate on their surroundings.
Increase Confidence
As children learn to use their
bodies in a healthy way and adapt a healthy lifestyle, their confidence is
likely to increase as well. Children will be able to begin seeing their bodies
as tools while they play yoga games and they will be able to push themselves to
some physical limits that they would have otherwise not reached as a child.
This will help children to learn about health and wellness and become confident
in their bodies.
Create a Challenge
Yoga is not easy! Yoga games can be
difficult while they are helping children learn balancing and strength
exercises. The more yoga games a child plays, the more he or she will be able
to track their progress and see how much their are improving. The balancing
skills that children use are lifelong skills that will always be helpful in
their journey to good health.
Yoga games have several benefits
for children outside of just getting them moving. They benefit the body and
mind and also help to soothe children during what can be a stressful period of
their lives. During a time of uncertainty, yoga can give children a few moments
of peace.
