Chair Yoga Offers Several Benefits
There are multiple benefits from
chair yoga exercises, and you can engage in these poses all of the time or
occasionally. For individuals with mobility issues that require the use of a
wheelchair or someone who is aging and finds it difficult to get on the floor,
chair yoga is probably the only wait to perform yoga movements.
Perform Movements Where There is No
Floor Space
Alternatively, you can combine
traditional yoga with chair yoga in certain situations such as on an airplane.
If you are working in an office cubicle with no space for performing yoga
movements on the floor, then use chair yoga on your breaks to relax and reduce
stress.
Improve Your Muscle Strength
If you are out of shape due to
long-term lack of exercise or because you have recently had surgery, then using
chair yoga is the first step toward rebuilding your muscle strength. Certain
types of movements can improve the strength of your back, legs and arms to make
it possible to begin traditional yoga in the future.
Increase the Flexibility of Your
Joints
When you have stiff joints due to a
degenerative condition such as arthritis, chair yoga is an excellent way to
increase the flexibility of your joints. It is possible to improve the
flexibility of the shoulders, vertebra and knees by using particular poses in
combination with other forms of mild exercise such as swimming or walking.
Have Better Mental Clarity from
Chair Yoga
Lack of daily exercise can lead to
a reduction in blood circulation, but chair yoga causes your heart to beat faster,
leading to an increase in blood flow throughout your body. Not only does your
body benefit from better blood circulation, but also, it helps the brain. Chair
yoga will help to improve concentration and mental clarity.
Increasing Your Lung Capacity
Failing to exercise frequently can
lead to a reduced lung capacity that makes it difficult to breathe in certain
situations. If you have trouble breathing when walking up the stairs, then
begin chair yoga to improve the capacity of your lungs.
